Hiraeth - 5th Edition
I am excited to share the news that my latest artwork, a limited edition Mezzotint print titled "Hiraeth," is now available.
This piece has been a labour of love, born out of a deep and personal exploration of a feeling I’ve long struggled to articulate, until now.
Hiraeth is a Welsh term that I discovered during my creative journey. It perfectly encapsulates the complex emotions I’ve been trying to express through this piece. It’s a blend of homesickness, nostalgia, and longing—a pull on the heart that conveys the distinct feeling of missing something irretrievably lost.
The idea for this artwork began with a vision—a window in the woods. It was an ambitious concept that required me to step out of the studio and into the natural world. I constructed a makeshift window and headed into the woods, confident that the experience would teach me what I needed to know. My objective was to study light and absorb the atmosphere that would emerge from placing this solitary window deep in the woods after sundown.
What I found was more than just the technical insights I had hoped for. The process became a reflection of the piece itself—a journey of discovery, a meditation on what is lost and what remains. Hiraeth is the result of this journey, not just a visual experience but a testament to the exploration that brought it to life.
